Upon arrival in Rajkot, our team will welcome you at the airport, and we will immediately head for Dwarka. We’ll stop in Jamnagar on the way to visit Bala Hanuman Temple and Lakhota Lake. Bala Hanuman Temple, also known as Shri Balahanuman Sankirtan Mandir, is known as a gorgeous site with delicately carved details and architecture. It’s popular for the continuously chanted “Ram Naam” that has never stopped for a second since August 1, 1964. We’ll also go see the Lakhota Lake, an artificial lake famous for the Lakhota Fort, a fortress from the 19th century that is erected in the middle of the lake on a small island. A museum is also open in this area. Once we reach the city, we will check you into the hotel. If time allows us, we’ll go for Darshan Shree Dwarkadhish Mandir for Sandhya Aarti. We return to the hotel and rest for the night after treating you to dinner.
After breakfast, we set off to Somnath, which is a 5-hour drive, 250-km long journey. Enroute, we make a quick stop in Porbandar, which is the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. We’ll be graced by the first house of the social activist, Kirti Mandir, which is now open as a museum dedicated to the man, filled with the man’s presence. In Somanth, we directly go to Sandhya Arti Darshan at Somnath Mahadev Temple before checking into the hotel. We spend overnight in Somnath.
After breakfast at the hotel, we check out and drive to Diu, which is a 2-hour drive away. We check into the hotel upon arrival and go on half-day sightseeing around the city. We head first to St. Paul Church, a historic church built in 1610 that made it one of the oldest baroque-style churches in India. Diu Fortress is the next location, which is located not far from the church. The Portuguese fortification that was built in the 16th century is now a tourist attraction that is well-maintained, with much of the original construction still intact. We’ll also visit the INS Khukri Memorial, a Type 14 frigate of the Indian Navy, sunk on December 9 1971 during the Indo-Pak War. And not far from there is the Diu Museum, which is set up inside St. Thomas Church that was built in 1598. Not to be missed as well is the Shell Museum, where sea shells from all over the world, which are part of a personal collection, are displayed in this museum that overlooks Nagoa Beach. We’ll take you for dinner before taking you back to the hotel to spend overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast in Diu, we check out from the hotel to head for Rajkot. We’ll stop at Shree Jalaram Temple in Virpur, which tells the story of the Birth of the saint Jalaram. Upon arrival in Rajkot, we will drop you at either the airport or railway station and let you say your goodbye to Gujarat.
A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite.
